THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Summer Academy Program Managers will be responsible for creating an immersive, transformative educational experience for high school students interested in global affairs, diplomacy, and leadership. We are looking for an exceptional individual who can inspire, mentor, and guide students through an intensive Model UN learning environment.

More specifically, we are seeking someone with the following characteristics:

• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate high school students
• Strong leadership and program management capabilities
• Deep understanding of Model UN principles and international relations, with a preference to candidates with multiple awards on the college circuit
• Ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and challenging learning environment
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and staff
• Proven ability to handle complex logistical and administrative responsibilities
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational setting

You are the ideal candidate if you have served as a conference Secretariat member or part of a Head Delegate team.

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Summer Academy Program Managers will be responsible for:

• Delivering comprehensive Model UN curriculum and training to students
• Managing daily operations of the summer academy at their assigned location, along with the Site Director
• Supervising and supporting student residential and academic experiences, along with the Site Director
• Working as a member of an instructor team and ensuring high-quality educational programming
• Implementing safety protocols and student care procedures
• Facilitating simulation exercises, workshops, and conference-style activities
• Providing mentorship and one-on-one coaching to students
• Managing student logistics, including residential life, meal times, and structured activities, along with the Site Director
• Documenting program outcomes and providing daily/weekly reports to executive leadership

REQUIREMENTS

Education Level Minimum

Bachelor’s degree (in progress or completed) preferably in International Relations, Political Science, Education, Business, or related field.

Experience

• Minimum of two years of Model UN experience (collegiate or high school level)
• At least one year completed in college as of May 2025
• Demonstrated leadership experience working with high school students
• Strong background in public speaking, debate, or diplomatic simulation
• Strong preference for candidates who are actively competing on the college circuit and who have won multiple awards

Additional Qualifications

• Ability to live on-site for the entire duration of the summer academy (approximately 1-2 weeks per site)
• Valid US driver’s license
• Ability to pass a background check
• US citizenship or work authorization
• Optional: First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

OTHER INFORMATION:

• You may apply to work as a Program Manager for one or multiple locations, with a strong preference to applicants who can work multiple weeks
• All Summer Academy Program Managers must complete pre-program training
• Flights to/from Academy locations are included
• Lodging and meals are included
• Program Manager weekly compensation: $1000.
