FAQ

Questions students and parents ask

Student raising a placard
Do I need Model UN experience to join?

No. The Placard Club is built for students starting from zero. The first Session covers how a committee runs, and each week adds one skill — research, speaking, negotiating, writing resolutions — so by May you can hold your own in a full simulation.

Can I join if my school doesn't have a Model UN club?

Yes. You don’t need a school team, a faculty advisor, or classmates who do Model UN. Everything happens online, and you practice with students from other schools every week.

What happens in a Session?

Each Session is a one-hour live video meeting on Monday at 7 PM ET. You get a short lesson on one skill, then use it right away in a practice committee while your Sponsor — the All-American coach assigned to you — gives feedback.

Is this a replacement for my school's Model UN team?

It works either way. If your school has a team, the Club adds weekly practice and coaching between conferences. If it doesn’t, the Club gives you a structured way to learn Model UN on your own.

When do I pay?

Not today. Pre-enrolling holds your spot with no payment due. Payment opens December 1, and enrollment closes January 5.
