2022 Model UN Summer Academy Scholarships

After two years of pandemic-adjusted Model UN, the start of the 2022-2023 school year will largely be the great restart of Model United Nations. Most conferences will return to in-person, with hundreds or thousands of students once again returning to conferences, hotels, and college campuses. The next year represents a great opportunity for the Model UN community to expand and reach even more students. Hopefully, the new virtual conferences that stood up during the pandemic period will continue, giving schools and students greater choices for getting involved with Model United Nations.

After speaking with several teachers, All-American Model UN realized that many clubs will go into next year, possibly with no students who have ever attended a Model UN conference in person. Model UN veterans know there are huge differences between hotel-based conferences and Zoom conferences. Next year will undoubtedly be the Great Restart.

In recognition of this, and in celebration of ten years of All-American Model UN, we are offering a scholarship program for students to attend our summer academies and tune their skills for the next Model UN season. Over the next month, we will be selecting five students to receive full scholarships and twelve half scholarships to attend one of our summer academies. These scholarships will be funded personally by All-American Model UN’s founder, Frank Pobutkiewicz.

How to Apply for Scholarships

Deadline: May 30, 2022

Instructions
Students interested in applying for a scholarship must answer two questions: Why is Model UN important to you, and why specifically do you want to attend an All-American Model UN Summer Academy. Submissions may take the form of an essay, video, PowerPoint presentation, or other formats. Submissions should be emailed to the All-American Model UN founder Frank Pobutkiewicz at [email protected].

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Additional Information and Scholarship Rules

All submissions must be received before 12:00AM ET on May 30th by email to [email protected]. All-American Model UN will make all scholarship decisions, and decisions will be final and cannot be appealed. Scholarships are only open to US high school students who are between 14-19 years old. Scholarships only cover tuition for enrollment in one All-American Model UN summer academy. Students who receive scholarships must choose to participate either in the Diplomacy Academy or Crisis Academy. Scholarships do not cover the cost of travel to Boston, the site of the summer academies. Scholarships will be chosen without considering age, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, religion, or ethnicity. Scholarships may not be combined with any other form of financial assistance, grant, or other discounts from All-American Model UN.
