About the Model UN High School Accelerator
The Model United Nations High School Accelerator by All-American Model UN will provide for up to twenty high schools looking to start or supercharge their existing Model UN programs. Each school will receive months of concierge, custom-built educational programming, digital resources and training material, professional development, and hands-on guidance around building a sustainable Model UN program.
Professional Development
Teachers of schools in the High School Model UN Accelerator will have access to our premium continuing education online course to equip them with a proven educational methodology for leading a Model UN program, either as a class or co-curricular.
Private Team Channel
All students from accepted schools will be given a free account on our proprietary training platform, Model UN Coach. The school will also be given a private communication channel to organize its program. This will serve as the primary communication channel for the Accelerator.
Weekly Virtual Lesson
Each week for sixteen weeks, the All-American Model UN Executive Director will lead an online session for all students and teachers. Lessons will cover organizational development, Model UN training, fundraising, and conference management.
In-Person Training Session
Accepted schools can schedule one in-person training session with an All-American Model UN Program Director or Executive Director. The training session will last between one and three hours. Training will cover general conference preparation, General Assembly committee strategies, and crisis committee tactics.
Access to Exercises & Simulations
Accepted schools will gain access to All-American Model UN’s proven training exercises to build important skills in research, policy development and analysis, public speaking, speech-making, lobbying, resolution writing, crisis arc development, and more!
Grants for Programs
Students will have the chance to receive $500 enrollment grants for All-American Model UN programs or additional tutoring. Students must successfully complete all assignments throughout the Accelerator to be eligible for an enrollment grant.
What We’re Looking For
The Model United Nations High School Accelerator seeks high schools in the United States looking to start or grow a Model UN program. We are open to working with schools that offer Model United Nations as a class or co-curricular activity. No previous experience with Model UN is required!
Passionate and Dedicated Teacher
No Model UN program can succeed without the dedication of a committed teacher. When applying to the Model UN High School Accelerator, a school must have a lead teacher who will oversee the Model UN program for at least the next three years. Schools may have additional teachers participate.
Interested Student Base
While the Model UN High School Accelerator will cover marketing and student recruitment as part of the program, schools will be best positioned to succeed if they already have an interested student base. Before applying to the Accelerator, schools should have the commitment of at least ten students to complete the program.
Strong Administration Support
Schools applying to the Model United Nations High School Accelerator must have the support of the school’s administration. When evaluating which schools to accept, we will request a letter of support from your high school’s head master, principal, or student activities director.
Multi-year Commitment to Growth
A successful Model UN program takes many years to develop. As an Accelerator alumni, your school will continue to receive support services from All-American Model United Nations.

Submit a formal application and All-American Model UN will create a custom proposal that fits your school’s goals.
Accelerator Program
Accelerator programs can span between six and sixteen weeks, depending on the number of students and school goals. Live sessions can happen weekly or biweekly.
Continued Support
All-American Model UN will equip participating schools with a training schedule, individualized objectives, exercises, and simulations.
Objectives and Outcomes
- Create a student marketing strategy to recruit students to participate in Model UN.
- Communicate the value of Model UN with key stakeholders, including school administration and parents.
- Develop a weekly meeting schedule for a year.
- Identify Model UN conferences to attend and develop a training schedule for attending.
- Equip student leaders and teachers with foundational Model UN knowledge of procedure, vocabulary, and structure.
Frequently Asked Questions
What grade or age range is this program for?
The Accelerator is designed for high school students ages 14-18. However, our curriculum and approach is flexible and may be able to accommodate middle schools or colleges.
What is the acceptance criteria?
We will evaluate applications based on the teacher’s interest and commitment, administration support, number of students impacted, and financial commitment.
How much does the Model UN Accelerator cost?
The Model UN Accelerator powered by All-American Model UN is $2,000. We have partnered with our sister nonprofit, The Model UN Scholarship Fund, to provide financial support to schools that may not be able to pay all or some of the fees.
When is the application deadline?
We will accept applications until October 5, 2024.
What happens if I miss a session?
All weekly sessions will be recorded and shared on our private online community. Our team will also post assignments and answer questions via this channel.
