Student Code of Conduct

Honor Code.

On my honor, I pledge to uphold the values of honesty, integrity, and respect that are expected of me as an All-American Model UN student in the tradition of excellence and performance.

Academic Integrity.

A commitment to the principles of academic integrity is essential to the reputation of All-American Model UN, All-American Model UN staff, and All-American Model UN students.  All applications and work completed after acceptance to All-American Model UN programs are subject to the strictest codes of academic integrity.  All-American Model UN reserves the right to inform academic institution of violation of academic integrity while participating in All-American Model UN programs, including, but not limited to, cheating, plagiarism, falsification of applications, and participation in other academically dishonest activities.

Representing School and Country.

Students are accepted to All-American Model UN programs with the expectation they represent their school, state, and country to the best of their ability at all times, including time spent in an academic context and at all other times.  Intolerance of opposing views, difference in culture or heritage, and sexist, ageist, or racist opinions will not be tolerated.  Violations may include immediate expulsion from program and may require immediate return to the United States with the violator bearing the cost.

Student Expectations.

All-American Model UN holds its students to the highest standards of academic quality and professionalism.  All-American Model UN programs are designed to stress healthy competition and students are expected to perform at the best of their abilities at all times.

Alcohol and Illicit Drug Policy.

There is a zero tolerance policy regarding purchasing and/or consumption of alcohol and illicit drugs.  Student rooms are open to inspection by All-American Model UN staff without prior notice being required.  Any student found in possession of alcohol or other drugs will be expelled from the program in which he/she/they are participating and made to return to the United States with the violator bearing the cost.

Curfew.

A curfew will be set for all All-American Model UN programs.  Students are expected to adhere to this policy at all times, unless accompanies by a member of the All-American Model UN staff. Violators risk being sent home, their program terminated, with the violator bearing all expenses.

Rooming and Lodging.

Students will be lodged in same-gender housing throughout the duration of the All-American Model UN program.  At no time should male and female students be in the same room without supervision by All-American Model UN staff.  Additionally, students are expected to be respectful of all private property.  Any damaged or stolen property will be charged to students occupying the room.

Repercussions of Breaking Code of Conduct.

Breaking any part of the Student Code of Conduct may result in immediate expulsion from All-American Model UN programs, a ban on future participation, and return to the United States (if abroad) with the violator bearing the expense. All repercussions are final and binding and may not be appealed. Parents will be notified of violations prior to disciplinary action.

Each participant must obtain a passport and any applicable visas for his or her program before departure.  If a participant cannot obtain these documents, our Standard Cancellation Policy will apply (see further in this document).  Please be sure that passports are valid for at least six months after the program ends.  Non-U.S. citizens will need to contact their consulate or embassy of their destination country to ensure they meet specific entry requirements. Visit the U.S. Department of State at travel.state.gov for further travel information.   Any questions about obtaining a visa should contact their College Apprentice Program Director.

Flight Information

What airlines does All-American Model UN use?

All-American Model UN reserves seats with major airlines, including American Airlines, Delta, United/Continental, Air China, British Airways, Emirates Air, and other US and international airlines.  For specific information regarding your program, please check with your Program Director.

What will my flights be like?

All-American Model UN does its best to ensure the most direct flights possible; however, we cannot guarantee a non-stop flight for any program.  Students will always be supervised during travel with a ratio of students to staff members no greater than 8:1 at any point in the program.  Students will receive seating assignments upon checking in at the airport.  The group may or may not sit together on the plane depending on mitigating circumstances.

What happens if a flight is delayed?

All-American Model UN is not responsible for airline schedule changes, or mechanical, or weather or capacity-related flight delays.  Given a delay or cancellation, All-American Model UNstaff will contact all parents and work to come to the best possible solution for the program participants.

Can I stay in the country of my program after the end date?

If a student is at least 16 years of age, they may be granted the ability to stay in the country of the program in which they are participating.  Please contact your Program Director for release forms and further details.  Please note that All-American Model UN will not be able to issue a refund or discount for unused plane tickets nor can we transfer tickets to be used at a later date.

Extension Packages

What are extension packages?

Where available, All-American Model UN may offer extensions to programs that include activities in addition to those included in the base program itinerary.

Are optional extension packages refundable?

If All-American Model UN has to cancel an extension package for any reason (such as low enrollment), 100% of the extension tuition is refundable. To receive a refund or cancel for any other reason, you must cancel, in writing, no later than 50 days prior to the beginning of the program.

Rooming Assignments

All-American Model UN handles all rooming assignments for the duration of your program.

How many students are in a room?

Students will room in doubles with others of the same gender for the duration of the program.  While in Boston, housing will be at the Boston University 1019 Commonwealth Avenue Dormitory.  Rooming will be “suite-style,” meaning there may be a shared common area for multiple rooms.  Suites will also be of the same gender.  Rooms during the Boston training will contain two twin, extra-long beds.  During the overseas program, All-American Model UN programs guarantee lodging in hotels with at least 4 Stars. Students will stay 2 per room with others of the same gender.

Miscellaneous

For programs in Boston, when should I arrive?

All Boston programs will begin at 2.00 PM EST.  Students should plan to arrive at the scheduled destination before the start of the program. Those students flying, traveling by bus or traveling by train should consult their Program Director for the scheduled first-day-of pick-up time.  Otherwise, students will be responsible for traveling to the assignment location for the program’s start.

What happens if All-American Model UN has to cancel a program?

All-American Model UN may cancel a program or part of a program for events beyond its immediate control, including but not limited to instability in the destination country, acts of God, war, terrorist activities, public health concerns, strikes, government action, severe weather condition or any other reason that could potentially harm College Apprentice students or staff or make it impossible, in the opinion of All-American Model UN, to complete the program. If All-American Model UN cancels a program, for this reason, participants will receive a full refund for all monies paid.  Cancellation by All-American Model UN for causes described in this section shall not be a violation of its obligations to any participant.

What happens if I lose something?

All-American Model UN is not responsible for the loss of passports, airline tickets, or other documents or for the loss or damage of luggage or any other personal belongings. In the case of a lost paper airline ticket, the student is solely responsible for meeting the airline’s requirements (both logistical and financial) for ticket replacement.
