Letter from the Director
Dear Students, Parents, and Teachers,
As we begin the 2019-2020 school year, I find myself conflicted. The past year was filled with warm memories, new experiences, and numerous accolades. It brings me great joy and pride to reflect on the accomplishments of 2018-2019: attending conferences and winning awards in Budapest, Madrid, and India; teaching the largest class yet of Diplomacy Fellows at our annual training Academy; relaunching UNMOD The Magazine and starting the MUN Coach podcast. The comfort of known experiences always gives me a mental place to visit when I feel uneasy, frustrated, or nervous.
Simultaneously, I know that All-American Model UN must expand the horizons and opportunities for our community. This school year will be a period of unknowns and experiments. We will be launching many new programs, new resources, and new partnerships this year that will far exceed what All-American Model UN has been able to offer in the past.
US National Travel Model UN Team
All-American Model UN has launched a year-long travel team that will attend Washington University Model UN (WUMUN) in St. Louis, the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference (ILMUNC) in Philadelphia, and the Boston Invitational Model United Nations (BOSMUN) in Boston. Students enrolled in the national travel team can attend single conferences or all three with All-American. Included in enrollment will be a year of training, in addition to participation in the US conferences we will be attending.
While participation on the US National Travel Team will be merit-based and require students to apply, the acceptance criteria won’t be as competitive as our international travel team. We’re looking for students with Model UN experience that want to capitalize on our world-leading training to improve their performance, not necessarily students who have already demonstrated strength.

New International Conferences and Locations
Our international team will have a number of first-time conferences and first-time locations.
Yale Model Government Europe (YMGE) will be hosted in Lison, Portugal this fall after being hosted in Budapest, Hungary over the last five years. We will be looking to extend our five-consecutive Best Delegations awards this year.

HACIA Summit of the Americas is a bi-lingual conference that will be hosted in Quito, Ecuador in March. One of the largest and oldest model government conferences in Latin America, HACIA draws students from across Central and South America.

Diplomacy Academy
Since 2015, the Diplomacy Academy presented by All-American Model UN has been helping students hone their Model UN skills while helping to build college-ready students. Over the course of a packed week, students learn about traditional Model UN committee, research strategies, speaking tactics, and crisis committees while also conducting an independent research project.
All students who complete the Diplomacy Academy earn a seat on the US National Team and the International Travel Team.

We may even have a few more new opportunities that we’re not quite ready to announce, so make sure to keep coming back to All-American Model UN website to see what’s going on!
