All-American Model United Nations

Founded in 2011, All-American Model UN’s mission is to validate and legitimize the Model UN experience by encouraging parents to nurture an interest in Model UN for its inherent educational benefits, better explaining to college admissions the positive effects of accepting students immersed in Model UN, and cultivating a Model UN community that is supportive to all participants with all aims and objectives.

We currently work with over 1,000 students each year through various programs. The heart of All-American Model UN is our travel team, which competes at Model UN or Model government conferences in the US and abroad. We also operate week-long summer training programs in various cities in the US, including, but not limited to, Boston, Washington, DC, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

As a community builder, we offer a suite of solutions for schools, parents, and conferences, including our virtual Masterclasses, online training platform Model UN Coach, Conference Support Services, and more.

OPEN POSITIONS

VP, Ecosystem Development and Programs

Start Date: September 2026
Role: Part-time (15-20 hours/week), with a strong preference for growth to full-time

All-American Model UN is creating a new senior leadership position for a strategic, student-focused VP of Model UN Ecosystem & Programs to help lead the organization to its next level. This role owns the programs, partnerships, and standards that sit above day-to-day operations — working directly with the Executive Director to shape the next steps for All-American Model UN’s programs.

We’re looking for someone who can work 15–20+ hours a week to start, with a strong preference for a candidate who can grow from part-time to full-time as the company expands this year. This is a build role: you’ll have real ownership over strategy, not just execution of an existing plan.

Help build the standard to propel Model UN forward.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

This position is about setting direction — deciding where All-American Model UN programs go next and building the infrastructure (standards, partnerships, credentialing) to get there. It’s important to be strategic, credible with external stakeholders, up to date on the Model UN landscape, and able to work independently toward measurable goals.

More specifically, we’re looking for someone who is:

  • Personable, professional, and well-spoken, especially when representing All-American Model UN to schools, partners, and teachers
  • A strong program or portfolio manager with solid organizational judgment
  • Self-motivated and comfortable building things from scratch — frameworks, standards, and relationships that don’t yet exist
  • Flexible and able to juggle multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously
  • Deeply familiar with Model UN — as a competitor, coach, director, or conference organizer
  • Able to work well in a team environment, coordinating closely with Operations to turn strategy into execution
  • Experience and working ability with Claude are preferred.

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The VP of Model UN Ecosystem & Programs is a strategy and partnership-building role. As with any small organization, the VP wears multiple hats and serves multiple stakeholders, including parents, students, teachers, schools, partners, vendors, and staff. The VP Ecosystem will directly oversee all ecosystem projects, while sharing program responsibilities (Summer Academies, Travel Team Cohort, Conferences) with VP Operations and Programs.

More specifically, the VP will be responsible for the following:

Program Strategy

  • Help set direction across program portfolio — Summer Academies, Travel Team Cohort, international programs, and Model UN Coach — identifying where to invest and where to sunset.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Operations and Programs on execution, staffing, and logistics.
  • Track program performance and bring data-informed recommendations to the Executive Director.

Credentialing & Standards

  • Lead development of All-American Model UN’s accreditation and certification system for high school MUN programs.
  • Lead the “100 New Programs” campaign to bolster or start 100 new Model UN high school programs across the country
  • Position All-American Model UN as the industry standard through credible, well-documented frameworks.

Partnerships & Ecosystem Development

  • Establish and manage relationships with schools, districts, and international programs to expand All-American Model UN’s footprint.
  • Represent All-American Model UN externally in partnership conversations, conferences, and industry settings.
  • Directly manage ecosystem development projects, including Model UN Coach, Conference Support Services, the National Model UN Scholarship Competition, and others.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Deep familiarity with Model UN — as a competitor, coach, director, or conference organizer; collegiate or post-collegiate MUN experience strongly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with experience as a collegiate Head Delegate, Assistant Head Delegate, Secretary-General, Director-General, or umbrella organization executive team member.
  • Program or portfolio management experience, ideally in education, nonprofit, or a fast-growing organization.
  • Leadership experience — such as Secretary-General, Director-General, or a comparable senior role — preferred.
  • Availability of at least 15–20 hours per week, with flexibility. This role will require working outside 9 AM–5 PM hours and on weekends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable representing AAMUN externally.
  • US citizenship or work authorization.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

This position will, first and foremost, be responsible for interacting with students, broadening their horizons, and teaching them to be better delegates and students. It is important to be detail-oriented, emotionally intelligent, current on foreign affairs, and able to work independently to achieve measurable goals.

More specifically, we are looking for someone with the following characteristics:

  • Personable, professional, and well-spoken, especially when communicating with parents and teachers;
  • Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills;
  • Self-motivated and proactive in taking ownership and responsibility for tasks and leading them to completion;
  • Flexible and able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously;

  • Able to work well in a team environment and help other team members accomplish their tasks to push team progress.

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Program Director of All-American Model UN is an operational and teaching position. As with any small organization, the Associate Program Director must be able to wear multiple hats and serve multiple stakeholders, including parents, students, teachers, schools, partners, vendors, volunteers, and staff.

  • Providing high-quality, individualized feedback to help students grow as students and delegates.

Model UN Conference Teams

  • Attend and help with instruction for virtual travel team training sessions. Training is held every other Thursday from 8PM-10PMET.
  • Coaching students and helping them to prepare for Model UN conferences by emphasizing research, solution building, and bloc building;
  • Meeting one-on-one with students to review research assignments, position papers, and conference strategy;
  • Travel to conference locations to be on-site staff multiple times a year. Each APD is expected to attend at least 3 conferences in a school year. Domestic conferences for 2026-2027 include Washington University St. Louis, Stanford, McGill, Brown, Columbia, Penn, Yale, Georgetown, Rice, University of Maryland, and more. We also attend three international conferences each year. You are not expected to attend all conferences. When attending conferences, travel, lodging, and meals are provided in addition to compensation.

Special Projects and Events

  • Establishing and managing relationships with external stakeholders, including Model UN conferences, venue partners, transportation partners, and others.
  • Support ecosystem development projects, including Model UN Coach, Conference Support Services, National Model UN Scholarship Competition, and others.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Leadership experience, such as Head Delegate, Secretary-General, or comparable roles, is preferred.
  • Must be able to mentor and work on US & international travel teams and Summer Academies.
